Saturday the 13th of March, two-Thousand and ten // yet habit--strange thing! what cannot habit accomplish?

Circa, 1998, Bill & Ted's Excellent Musical.

Make sure to listen to all of the anthems. My soul is warm.

Go here. Play the virtual white-man-blues. Beware. It's addictive.

Japan to ban vintage synths.

Fascinating post on the comparison between friendster and myspace and the social climate they exist in.

A huge part of the success of MySpace is an age and culture thing. Part of being an American teen is figuring out who you are, how you fit into society and culture, how social relations work, etc. Part of this process involves sharing cultural objects, hanging out and trying out different self-performances to find the one that feels "right"

I also like how she claims bands may be the death rattlers.

Feeling spammed and invaded by advertisers (or musicians) who seek friendship might turn off users and an increase in this could cripple usage.

Read it here. It's a long one, but pretty good.

I give you Miniature Guide Horses for the Blind.

From the website:

The Guide Horse Foundation was founded in 1999 as an experimental program to access the abilities of miniature horses as assistance animals. There is a critical shortage of guide animals for the blind.

In early experiments, Guide Horses have shown great promise as a mobility option, and people who have tried Guide Horses report that the Guide Horses perform exceptionally well at keeping their person safe. These friendly horses provide an experimental alternative mobility option for blind people. People who have tried Guide Horses report that the horses demonstrate excellent judgment and are not easily distracted by crowds and people.

Guide horses are not for everyone, but there is a strong demand for Guide Horses among blind horse lovers, those who are allergic to dogs, and those who want a guide animal with a longer lifespan.

An international Poll by the Discovery Channel showed that 27% of respondents would prefer a Guide Horse if they required a guide animal.

Well, no shit.

I'm going to take a poll right now.

Yup, turns out 100% of people would prefer a Guide Dragon if they required a guide animal.

Bottom line, Guide Dragons are the first choice, but since they're a little harder to come by, Guide Horses are a-ok in my book!

Jason Lytle admits to bitch-slapping Courtney Taylor of the Dandy Warhols.

I can stand by that.

Sorry, Martha. You're out of the club.

Notice who didn't get "droppped off" the list.

Me.

Some people just know how to play the Game.

Old School Style

Three cheers to the Smiths moving in down the street. As I mentioned to Hammy, it looks like Pasadena is quickly becoming the new Whittier.

Three Cheers, indeed.

Also, a quick shoutout to our new blogspot friend:

That's right, it's Hammer Time!

So Andy Baio at Waxy has made it his personal mission to keep House of Cosbys alive. When Channel 101 got served with a cease-and-desist from Cosby's lawyers, Waxy started hosting all of the episodes.

Now, months later, he's been served a cease-and-desist himself and he is refusing to take the videos down. His claim is the videos are pardoy and "fall under protected speech guidlines," and he doesn't seem like he's going to back down. He mentions numerous occasions where Cosby has been parodied (Mad Magazine, The Family Guy,The Simpsons, SNL) and points to the C&D as an example of discrimination against amateurs.

Hurray for him. I love Bill Cosby, and the Cosby show will always be a classic, bu let's hope that the little guys can finally win a battle without the law bending in favor of the money.

Okay. Last geek post for a while, I promise.

But c'mon. a Mac mini in a NES.
