mouse and the billionaire

Tuesday the 7th of September, two-Thousand and ten // yet habit--strange thing! what cannot habit accomplish?

This week Nate teaches us how to make the classic Old Fashioned, which is the grandfather of all cocktails.

According to Etymonline, the word cocktail dates from 1806 when Antoine Pechaud (of Pechaud’s Bitters fame) served alcohol, water, and bitters concoctions to his friends in an egg cup (in French, coquetier). We won’t be using an egg cup, but we will be making history.

So, get out your mixing glass, some ice, and let’s get started.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 oz Rye Whiskey
  • 1 Sugar Cube
  • 2 Dashes Bitters
  • Splash of water
  • Twist of Orange / Lemon
  • Ice
